Dropping your tyre pressure for sand, mud or rocky terrain makes a real difference to grip and comfort — but only if you can air back up again afterwards without sitting at a garage for twenty minutes. A decent onboard compressor is one of the most-used pieces of kit in any 4x4.
Flow rate and cylinders
Compressors are usually rated in litres per minute (L/min) — the higher the number, the faster you'll fill a tyre. Dual cylinder units, like our ALL-TOP Air Compressor Kit (350L/Min, 12V DC), move more air per stroke than a single cylinder pump, which matters if you're airing up four tyres after a day on the trail and don't want to wait around.
Auto stop
An auto stop function lets you set a target pressure and walk away — the compressor shuts off on its own instead of you standing there watching a gauge. It's a small feature that saves a lot of hassle, especially when you're doing all four tyres at a stop.
Inflation and deflation together
Airing down is just as important as airing back up, and doing it one valve at a time with a manual gauge is slow. A dedicated system like the ALL-TOP 4-Way Inflation System lets you inflate or deflate accurately without guesswork, which speeds up both ends of the process.
Don't skip the gauge
Whatever compressor you run, an accurate gauge matters more than people think — a few PSI out can be the difference between good traction and a tyre that's too soft for the load it's carrying.
